WHY LAU LIE MARTIAL ARTS AND WELLNESS

Our classes promote
mind and body wellness

By nurturing and using internal energy through practical techniques and application, the body and spirit is trained to develop a quality lifestyle of vitality and longevity with healthy benefits.

Three core classes are offered:

Qigong

The term literally means energy work. At its essence, Qigong trains in the use of energy rather than muscles to move the body. Combining physical movements as well as mind and breathing exercises, energy is directed to flow within the body.

New Qigong classes forming now for Monday's at 9:00 am.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi is a mind/body/spirit workout embodying a series of mental and physical exercise to tone and generate energy within the body – popularly called moving meditation. Practice of these slow-motion movements or postures encourages circulation, flexibility and vitality. The depth of this practice connects to its roots as a martial arts.

  • Intro to Tai Chi: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5:30 - 6:00 pm.
  • Regular Tai Chi: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:30 - 7:30 pm.
  • Weapons training: Wednesday, 7:00 - 7:30 pm

Meditation

At the root of meditation is the belief that connectivity and community are vital for health and healing. Physical, emotional and spiritual wellness are explored by drawing from differing sects of meditation techniques.

TESTIMONIALS

  • Iris
So grateful to have found this school. Master Charlie is very knowlegable and patient. I credit the Qigong techniques Master Charlie has shown me with ease or even curing signs and symptoms of depression. I strongly encourage everyone to give Qigong and this school in particular a try.

I have always wanted to take a Tai Chi class and had the opportunity after joining the ‘J’. I quickly learned that I wanted more and began taking lessons with Sifu Charlie at Lau Lie. Sifu Charlie is passionate about Tai Chi and very knowlegeable. He creates an atmosphere of community and support among participants while being aware of each member’s strengths and weaknesses. This is a fun and encouraging learning environment for mindful meditative movement.

My training with Master Charlie began 2+ years ago and I have not looked back. As time goes on my practice only gets richer as I discover more about my own intuitive nature. I look forward to my continued journey as we delve into other areas of practice.

Sifu Charlie Zayas is a great Tai Chi Chuan tutor and mentor. I would recommend him to not only students who are taking Tai Chi in school but also for people like me (seniors) who are learning Tai Chi on their own spare time. Charly is the most attentive to your needs and the most dedicated teacher I know in Martial Arts.

I had the opportunity to try one of Charlie's classes a few weeks ago and have been back for every one offered since then. During this crazy time, what Charlie teaches is what we all need. He is patient and accessible and gives each of his students the tools to find their own path. I feel very blessed to be learning from such a wonderful teacher.
